Choose Your Honey (but we recommend you try both!):
- Mid Summer: Enjoy the delicate sweetness of our Mid Summer Honey, a light and smooth blend with fruity, floral notes from the first blooms of apple, raspberry, clover, alfalfa, and wildflowers. Thinner and more liquid than our late summer honey and beautiful for drizzling on baked goods, yogurts, dishes etc.
- Late Summer: Savor the rich, robust flavors of our Late Summer Honey, a darker, thicker, richer variety with complex notes from late-blooming plants like goldenrod and sunflower. Higher in anti-oxidants, great with food and teas but also great as a medicinal.
About our Honey:
We lovingly care for our 7 beehives at Earthlands Farm and produce the purest honey possible. Our raw, organic honey has a depth and richness of flavor unlike any honey you'll find in the store! Our honey is unique because our hives sit on our 100 acres of completely chemical free farmland, and our bees collect pollen from the surrounding pristine forests, flowering organic vegetables and fruits on our farm, fields of wildflowers, and all of our abutting neighbors are organic farmers as well. Our bees are cared for by our family with love - we talk to our bees, sometimes even sing to our bees! Bees travel up to 3 miles per day, so its important that you know where your local honey comes from and what surrounds the land the hives are on as bees can be exposed to harsh chemicals and fertilizers they pick up from non organic flowers and plants and bring back to their hive. Our bees are very healthy and happy, and we have a strong control over the health of their ecosystem.
In addition to being a delicious sweetener, local, raw honey is also a powerful medicine that goes back to ancient times. Local bees make local honey, which means the pollen they collect and bring back to the hive is all sourced from local plants. Since many seasonal allergies are caused by these same plants, eating honey that contains that pollen can possibly combat those allergies. Honey is also an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, natural antiseptic and antibacterial agent. People commonly use honey orally to treat coughs and immune system issues and topically to treat burns and promote wound healing. Because most types of bacteria can't survive in honey, it speeds up healing, diminishes swelling, and gives tissue the opportunity to grow back more quickly. Have allergies? A sore throat? The flu? A wound? Pimples? Trouble sleeping? A cold sore? Reach for your local, organic honey to help aid healing!
